Pie Day at Farmer's Market!!
The Main Street Woodstock Farmers Market is thrilled to host Pie Day on Saturday, July 7th in conjunction with the Cherokee County Farm Bureau. Pie Day will feature a pie baking contest as well as a pie eating contest. The Main Street Woodstock Farmers Market is located at the corner of Main St and Towne Lake Pkwy in the public parking lot that fronts Town Lake Pkwy. Market Hours are 8:30am to 11:30am.
Categories for the Pie Baking contest are Youth under 18, Adult, Senior over 65 and Professional. Trophies, Prizes and ribbons will be awarded. Contestants should bring pies in by 9:30 and register at the Farm Bureau table. Judging begins at 10 am. Chef Justin Balmes, known for appearances on The Next Food Network Star and Chopped will be joined by Woodstock City Historian Ms. Juanita Hughes, and a Chef from a Publix Bakery, in judging the contest.
Pies can be sweet or savory. Please bring a cooler for a cold pie as this will be outdoors. No fees, enter as many times as you like. Pie must contain at least one locally available fruit or vegetable, need not be in season. Judges will consider appearance, texture, taste and originality and other factors.
Winning recipes will be published in Cherokee Tribune News Food Section. Winners will be invited to participate in the Cherokee Pie Challenge at Cherokee Fresh Market in August.
A pie eating contest will take place at 10:30. Register for the contest at the Cherokee County Farm Bureau table at the market. Children 10 and under, Youth 18 and under and Adult competitions. Trophies will be awarded to the winners of in each age group.
